Celebrating Spring with Pastels

I was up to New York this last weekend with my daughter. She wanted to get out of DC and breathe the NY air. Who am I to argue?

Shopping the fashion district for summer staples is almost obscene. For around $180, I ended up getting 5 short sleeve t-shirts, 3 long sleeve t-shirts, 3 camisoles, 3 yoga tops, 3 tank tops, a pair of shoes, a pair of white cotton capris and an Anne Klein sweater. Considering the last three items totaled $90, the remaining items were on average $5.30 a piece. Gotta love NY.

But I digress! One of the things I love about going to different cities is seeing what polishes are being carried in drugstores. We have no Duane Reades in DC, so when I stopped in, I was please to find Brucci polishes – a brand I’m not familiar with at all. Needless to say, I picked several of them up. I have no idea if the polishes I’m posting are old or new, but they seem perfect for spring.

I actually planned ahead and picked up the opaque base coat as these particular colors looked like they could possibly be a streaky nightmare. I had to laugh at the bottle though. There’s no mistaking what it is with “BASE COAT” emblazoned on the front in big bold letters! With the base coat, application was fairly easy and I think you can see the streaks were minimal.

Now if we could only convince a polish manufacturer that we need pastels like these with loads of shimmah!

For being a person crazy about pink, this pink was my least favourite of these polishes. The green and blue attracted me much more.

OMG! Brucci! I live in Jamaica, and so there’s no or barely any OPI, Essie etc…there’s BRUCCI and more Brucci!! and there’s Jordana…and some Revlon and Maybelline and Milani. I am so excited to see you doing a post on it now :) hehe
    Thanks!

I love that basecoat! It’s perfect for getting true colors out of neons and slightly sheer pastels.

@ Alexlyndra – I totally agree. The blue and green definately outshined the pink.

@ Charlene – I’ll trade you some OPI for some Jamaican beach front? Yes? =)

@ Sybelle – It was the first time I used an opaque BC, but it definately won’t be the last as it worked perfectly.
