Superstar Tips without the Celebrity Status

<– This was the polish that made me go to the Superstar site. I’ve been seeing it in alot of places and where I needed to see it most was on my nails. I have to say, the Superstar site is not the most professional I’ve seen. It’s way too busy and the navigation ain’t pretty. But I persevered and selected my 5 for $35 polishes (code is 5for35). When I received my confirmation email, I had to giggle a bit as my confirmation number was 30. I’m guessing that for all the celebrities they service, not many are through the internet.

When I received them (fairly quickly I might add), I immediately pegged Gucci Green as a winner and didn’t really think I’d be too impressed with the rest of them. I was mostly wrong. But wait, let me talk a bit about the bottle. For as many elegant, sleek polish bottles out there, Superstar kinda reminds me of a polish you’d have bought in the 40′s. Cute, functional, but hardly the work of art that Ko created. However, The brushes are good and the handles are grooved, providing a good grip. Now, onto the colors!

These two were by far my favorite colors. The gold shimmer in both of them are awesome. Make sure you click on them so that you can see them in all their glory. Gucci Green did not disappoint. But Gorgeous Green lived up to its name and it’s a particularly nice shade for the onset of spring.

Orangu An A-Lister was a surprise. It looked super orange in the bottle, but transformed beautifully on the nail to a hot neon orange/pink with shimmer. This will look fab on me once I get some sun this summer (of course I’ve said this for the last 15 years – here’s to less wrinkles in my old age). Bombshell Blue was a disappointment. There is something about this shade of blue that every polish company says “Make it a frost! Make it a frost!” If I never see this particular shade as a streaky frost again, it’ll be too soon. Seriously guys, make it a shimmer. Make it a creme. Make it a foil. Make it a duochrome. But for goodness sake. Do. Not. Make. It. Another. Frost.

So four out of five were a hit. Much better than my original guess of one out of five. Do note that most of these were three coaters and dried slightly matte. If either of these things are issues for you, pass on these polishes. But as I don’t mind three coats for a fab finish and I always wear a topcoat, neither are enough to stop me from ordering more. Shipping is pretty standard – mine ran a tad under $10. Keep in mind that they are running their 5 polishes for $35 (code 5for35) which will save you a few bucks.
