You’d think that with my polishing sabbatical, my wallet would have had a break from all the polish buying, but noooo…. Yeah, like I need to explain this to you? You know where I’m coming from.

These black beauties have been sitting on my desk for several weeks waiting for my nails to somewhat recover. And they are beauties. I’m very late to the black polish craze. It was my last frontier. And even still, I generally hesitate. But these might be my bridge to never never land. They have so much colorful sparkle, that it’s sometimes hard to remember that we’re talking black here.

So let me digress for a moment. Have you heard the Taco Bell commercials for their new black tacos? It makes me giggle every time I hear it because of the guy in the back ground listing off all these “black” things in a deep sultry voice. I mean, come on, we’re talking tacos here, not condoms! So this was what was running through my mind when it came to name this set. Black tacos. heh.

These were for the most part, 3 coaters. As with most of Icing polishes, I experienced alot of bald spots if I didn’t allow the layers to semidry – including the basecoat. My best results were from a thin coat, thick coat, thin coat combo. Except for Black Magic, that one ended up being 4 coats. All of them were extremely sparkly, with the exception of Black Velvet. That one just seemed a tad dull compared to the others.

I’m not quite sure how they compare to the Milani Black polishes that came out during Halloween. Those are on my desk too.

ETA: Well damn, I just realized I labelled all of them with the Basix title. Will have to redo them at a later date. These are not Basix polishes, but Icing.
