CND Effects: The Pile Up!

Now that you’ve seen each effect individually, here they are all piled up on one another. I think, shown all together like this, the line is quite impressive. You’ll notice that the darker the base color, the more dramatic the effect is.

My favorites of the line are Sapphire Sparkle, Ice Blue Shimmer and Amethyst Sparkle. All in all, I think this was a great new line. I’m curious if and how they will expand it.

Wouldn't you know it, ring finger was faking it! Now that the swatching is over, it's miraculously recovered. See if I ever use it for modelling again!

What is it with me? Apart from Jade Sparkle (and even that’s only a 6 out of 10) I do not see the point of these. Am I the only person in the world who isn’t wowed by these?
However I have learned that Oilslick is very adaptable and THAT would be worth getting and shoving something or other over the top.
So my vote goes to Oilslick.

@ Jen – these are a great way to extend a creme mani without getting bored with it. I will say that CND does not have the market on layering polishes – there are plenty of others polishes that do the same thing. But I was very pleasantly pleased with quite a few of these (I’m looking at you 561). But even if you’re not into the layering, I definately recommend trying a CND color. I was super impressed with the one coat coverage.

Gah, after seeing them all in one place, I want them all except the golds XD

I really love all the purple ones and the two blues… I wish they would sell CND in europe :(

What a great line – thank you for doing this for us…… I think they are all beautiful, especially the shimmers.

What a project to take on!

They’re beautiful, but I can’t deny that I’m kinda with commenter #1- it irritates me that CND is treating polish layering like it’s some BRAND NEW CONCEPT that they invented. Though, as you said, the one coat coverage is most definitely something I can get on board with, and I may just get some of the Colours for that reason alone.

On another note, I have to say it… BLESS YOU for doing this! You are The Queen. Seriously, there’s a place up in heaven for you because of all the painstaking and detailed work you’ve put into making nail polish buying a better experience for everyone else. What with the Top Coat study, and all of this… I just can’t thank you enough.

Raspberry sparkle is my favorite. good thing your finger was just faking it ;)

hehe It was a good thing I didn’t count up the number of swatches before I embarked on this endevour. Had I calculated 96 finger swatches beforehand, my ring finger would have gone on strike before we ever got started! =D

Jen, I agree. I think most of these only make an impact over black, and I don’t think you need a particular “line” of polishes to layer with. There’s a lot of layering polishes out there already.

I love the colors, though. Definitely getting some of those! :)

Gabrielle, KUDOS to you for swatching all of those! You really are a Nailpolish Goddess! :D

CND is sold in Europe. In 92 countries. In the UK, try
    http://www.sweetsquared.com/Sweet-Shop or CND’s locator function: http://www.cnd.com/Locate/Find-A-Distributor.aspx

Love the line up, I have been wondering what the effects look like and now I know..sweet! Thanks!

@Julia – Yes they are sold in Europe but much less so than in the US and Canada. To the point where there is one salon in the whole of France that sells them and they don’t do mail order.

@ Amused – you can get them from Transdesign (for a *cough* hefty shipping charge). Sadly yet another thing H2T stopped shipping to Europe.

First off, thanks for doing all these swatches. You rock! I don’t think that CND believes they are breaking new ground here. This line is great from a salon standpoint. This line allows us to stock LESS polish behind the table while allowing us to be able to create MORE colors. My clients really like the Oilslick + Amethyst Sparkle combo. Some of them think this combo belongs exclusively to them. I don’t have the heart to tell them others wear it too! Lol! This blog is amazing. I just stumbled accross it today.

A year after the fact here, but I landed here via Google. This is super useful for comparison’s sake – thankyou so much for doing all that work.

I just did a google search as I’m just learning about the CND Color & Effect line, and wanted to say THANK YOU! This is super useful to figure out which effects I have to buy – will be taking this shopping with me tomorrow!

A late but great thank you for this post! It helped me a lot in choosing which of the effects to buy. Have gotten so tired with creams and ordered a few of these to have the choise of turning my creams into shimmers. Live in Scandinavia but order polish from US since most brands are silly expensive here, if you can find them at all. Always have to base my choices on swatches.
Just tried Sapphire Sparkle over OPI What’s with the Cattitude, turned out just wonderful, in my opinion.

Late to the party here but this was linked on a nail board I frequent and let me just say WOW at the amount of swatching you had to do! *bows at your feet*

2nd – I saw a few comments about CND not having a corner on the market etc and might I recommend making your own! Apparently the Sparks and Interferance pigments from TKB Trading, combined with their nail polish bases make some pretty nice dupes for these. I’ve yet to try it myself to say if they are spot on dupes but for those that like the look of the CND Effects and want to experiment it’s totally doable and for quite a bit less out of your pocket as well!

This is so very nice of you to do!!! I have been looking for sugar sparkle and can’t find it :(

Sugar Sparkle was one of the first expansion Effects that came out after the main line was introduced. Unfortunately, I think it has reached “dusty hunting” status.
