Sometimes Good Things Come in Small Packages

And sometimes not. Such is the case with Le Metier. Now, I knew that this was going to be a small bottle. But I just didn’t realize how little “little” truly was until it was in my hand.

I was actually considering getting a couple of these and mentioned it to a friend. Fortunately for me (unfortunately for her) she took the plunge before I did because I would have been pissed spending $15 on a bottle this size. She passed it onto me so that I could write about it.

Now how much polish is in there exactly? I’m not really quite sure. They don’t list it in the Needless Markup site and the bottle says 1.4oz. However, after one mani, it weighed in at 1.1oz, so the marked weight has to mean the entire bottle and not just the content (am I the only one that thought listed weight meant the polish and not the bottle? Even a regular sized OPI is listed at .5oz). Look at it, there’s more glass than there is lacquer. Compared to an .125oz OPI mini, Le Metier it looks like 5 drops of color.

According to the site, this polish supposedly lasts for 14 days. I have a hard time believing that of any polish. But even half of that time would be pretty darn good. Unfortunately, Sasse reports that it lasted one full day before it started chipping. I’ll take her word about it as I’m not about to test that.

I love high end polishes. But this one just pisses me off more than anything – from the price to the miniscule, mis-represented content weight to the mis-advertised staying power. This is one polish I’ll be staying away from.

Un-freaking-believable! What, is it liquid gold or something?

    That is sooooooo teeny tiny.

I had to convert to make sense of it (I’m in Canada) and 1.4 oz in ml is a little over 41 ml. That would be one HUGE bottle of polish. LOL!

I think the Le Metier is measured in ml. (it is a euro brand) 1.4 ml would make sense of that size of bottle.

    Millie, It’s something alright! =)

Kristina, the bottle is actually labeled 1.4oz – 4.0ml. So I’m not quite sure what they’re measuring, but pretty sure it’s not the polish.

Though the sahde looks nice, that bottle is ridiculous!! I love high-ends too, but you get a lot of polish from the high-end brands. Good to see you back, Gabrielle!!! :) ))
(I’ll be back some time next week, I’m gonna cheat, even if I said I wouldn’t …)

Its so tiny, I can’t believe that is what it costs…how is the brush?

Seems like there may have been a conversion issue somewhere. 4ml is 0.14oz, not 1.4oz.

Honest mistake or intentional oversight, it’s still an enormous ripoff :/

Hey LM, hope your nails are growing swiftly!!

Jackie, the bristles are short as is the handle. It takes a little getting used to, but it’s not that bad. The polish itself was streaky on the first coat but seemed to even out on the second. And I truly think it could have benefited from a 3rd.

Diane, I think you probably figured it out. I was studying the bottle with a magnifying glass to make sure I had the decimal point in the right place, but I think you’re right, it was probably a typo. Bad place to have one!

I can’t believe anyone actually looking at a bottle in person would even buy one. It’s nail polish for criminies sake, not a sip from the bloody Fountain of Youth.

Because I own so many bottles of nail polish, I wish all polishes come in smaller sizes. Rarely do we ever use the entire bottle. But…you’re right, this is just ridiculous. With $15, you could buy a couple of full size China Glazes!!

Imagine knocking it over! Bye bye money! It would be funny if it wasn’t your own bottle though. Or maybe that’s just my evil self speaking.

I just have to comment this, even if I’m late. :D
This is just crazy, 15$ for this little drop??
Oh, and you wrote, that “this polish supposedly lasts for 14 days”. That’s probably true – when it chipps, you have remove it and then paint your nails again with it. If you do that, that TINY LITTLE bottle would probably really last somewhere up to 2 weeks… Maybe they ment that. :D
