Is This Love?

Meh. At best, it’s a mild infatuation.

When CND came out with their new line, I was rather excited. Not so much about the base colors as I’ve never been into cremes. The Effects is always where it’s been for me. And for the most part, I’ve been very pleased. But this Valentine’s duo, Red Hot, wasn’t really hot, it was rather lukewarm. Just Red needed two coats, unlike other CND Colors. On the up side, there was noticeably less dragging and pulling of the polish in between coats.

Now let’s talk about the Red Sparkle Effect. It’s just glitter. Red glitter. That’s it.

In last year’s melee of glitter, we saw every size, color and variation of glitter from just about every polish company out there. I can almost say that I overdosed on the sparklies. So this new year you can call me jaded, but a simple red glitter doesn’t do it for me anymore. And I’d hardly call it an Effect.

Now I will admit that the swatch of Red Sparkle doesn’t do it justice. Somehow, photos never 100% capture the way the light will catch and play with a good glitter. And Red Sparkle does play with light quite nicely. The combination of the two makes for a very pretty manicure.

But to repeat. It’s just glitter. Red glitter. That’s it.

I’m with you on the meh here. If I want a rich red with red glitter I’ll bust out my bottle of Ruby Pumps. This “effect” just doesn’t seem anywhere near as versatile as the older ones.

I agree that this “Look” isn’t very impressive, but I’m really excited about the spring look, Perfectly Bare. :)
