When I went into my local nail supply store last weekend, I was very surprised to see the OPI Miss Universe collection on display. I wasn’t expecting this for at least another few weeks. I was even more surprised at how much better the colors looked in person. And the surprises didn’t end there.

The bottles promised super saturated and super rich colors. And the end result is just that. However, both Congeniality is My Middle Name (could we ask for a longer name?) and It’s My Year were actually three fairly color-light coats. The build up is fantastic, just not what I was expecting.
CIMMN (you weren’t seriously expecting me to write that out again were you?) is a beautiful magenta base with purple, red and pink shimmer particles. Quite honestly, this is not what I’d be expecting from Miss Congeniality. This is what I’d be expecting the Va-Voom Vixen contestant that everyone hates to be wearing.
It’s My Year is a gold shimmer laden purple. Based on the bottle, I expected a foil, but this is definitely a shimmer on crack. The shimmer is so overwhelming on this color that at certain angles, you almost lose the purple amongst all the gold.
Swimsuit… Nailed It is the blue to end all blues. It’s an almost one coater. I think a second coat gives it a greater depth of color, but you actually get full coverage with one. This is exactly what I expected from the others. This is shimmery gorgeousness sold in a bottle. What can I possibly say that the photo doesn’t say better? Out of this collection, this would be my personal Miss Universe.
Crown Me Already was a very interesting color. Especially since I was also swatching the Serena Glam Slam polishes at the same time. In the bottle, it was so similar to Servin Up Sparkle that I thought it was a dupe. But fear not, Crown Me Already was meant to be a base color and at two coats, it gets fabulous coverage. Servin Up Sparkle was meant to be a top coat and it enhances an existing color but doesn’t stand solo quite as well (comparison coming soon). Crown Me Already is a clear base with both a silver micro glitter and sporadic hexagonal glitters. It’s definitely a notice-my-nails-because-I’m-so-fabulous color and not for the shy at heart. I was extremely pleased at how well this went on.

I love It’s My Year, my favorite purple this year.
I wish that CIMMN was red with the same effect instead of magenta, its nice, but im crazy about a cool red (and yes Im nuts- brazilian nuts- I know its a bad joke but I like- lol).
Thanks for the swatches.
Greetings from Brazil.
I was going to pass on ths collection but, after seeing your pictures I need them
I wonder how close It’s My Year is to Zoya’s Faye?
