When Yves Saint Laurent came out with Surreal Yellow in the Surrealist Sun collection, I passed on Surreal Yellow. A few times. Around the fourth time I went to Nordstroms (my absolute favorite place to get my high end polishes), I caved and purchased it. But I’m so glad I did. It came out the same time Chanel introduced Mimosa but unlike Mimosa’s scattered sparkle, Surreal Yellow is loaded with uniform shimmer giving it a softer look despite its shocking color. I must confess, I prefer this one.

Oddly enough, I don’t think other items in the Surrealist Sun collection made it to the States. The blue lip gloss that came out with this collection immediately reminded me of this. I hope she managed to get her hands… or lips… on this one.
Now Pink Gold was definitely a different story. I tested this one at the store and a one stroke over the top of another color made me think it would work well. But once I got it at home to do a proper mani, I found it to be a metallic pearl. Meaning streaky as hell.
Both colors are shown with three coats. However, Surreal Yellow went on easily and Pink Gold was definately work to achieve a line free application.

I think Surreal Yellow was tragically overlooked and also think it is way better than Mimosa.
I realised a couple of days ago that one of the farmacists not far from me still has this one and Utopian Turqouise – and I think I might have to cave in and get it – together with Midnight Blue and Wintergreen
. Holy Cow there goes my polish budget…
Surreal Yellow looks really similar to a Forever 21 polish called Yellow (there are at least two called “Yellow,” but one is a neon shimmer, like SY).
