Dior Holiday 2011 – Gold Stardust

Dior’s Holiday 2011 line is laden with gold shimmer. So appropriate for the holidays! And I have to say, I like every one of these, despite the misgivings I had about the gold shimmer possibly turning the reds into oranges.

Mervielle, the polish that I had the most misgivings about, ended up being my favorite. It’s a bright tomato red that looks more orange in the bottle than it does on the nail. The gold shimmer gives it a glowing contrast.

Or Divin is a gold that I’d actually classify more as a yellow. It’s a delicate color, unlike some of the blindingly bright yellows that we had this summer. The gold shimmer doesn’t stand out as much in this one as it blends into the base color, but it still manages to sparkle quite well. This is the least opaque color in this collection. I applied two coats with all the colors and this is the only one that shows visible nail line.

Exquis is a mossy green/grey. This is my second favorite of the collection. The gold shimmer gives it the extra holiday oomph.

Apparat (where did Dior come up with these names?) is a brick red. This is another one I had misgivings about but all for naught as the gold shimmer didn’t detract from the base color.

What I originally thought would be an extremely warm toned collection (which is generally death on my nails as it doesn’t bode well for my skin tone) ended up being somewhat neutral. Which is good as it’ll work for warm toned and cool toned individuals alike.

I really like Exquis and Apparat, I’m not fan of tomato reds so Merveille was the one that I liked less, but I cant deny is a pretty color and Or Divin I’m pretty sure would be a disaster with my skin tone.
Awsome swatches as you usually do, thank you.

How does Merveille compare with the new Chanel, Rouge Carat?
