It’s been ages since Laura Mercier has come out with a new polish. I’ve had mixed feelings about some of her past colors. I adored Cavier Dreams. I was neutral about Avant Garde. I really resented the 4+ coats I had to apply for the rest of the colors. So when Twilight came out, I was really hoping for a Cavier Dream level color.

Was this color a hit? Oh, hell, yeah! First, it was a two coat application. Thank goodness!! Second, this is everything I was hoping Chanel’s Paradoxal would be and wasn’t. Despite the greyed purple base, the purple and sporatic gold shimmer is fantastic. I’ve not really seen a muted color that doesn’t diminish the shimmer. The combination makes for a sophisticated look with enough sizzle to make me a very happy camper. I’m really hoping this one isn’t a one-off and we’ll see not only more colors from Laura Mercier in the future, but ones of this quality.
