Estee Lauder: Metal Mania and Beyond Black part 2 of 2

The next four Estee Lauder swatches are a mix from both the Metal Mania and Beyond Black collections. I’m a bit confused about Tempestuous. On the Nordstrom site, it belongs to the Metal Mania collection and on the Estee Lauder site, it doesn’t exist.

It’s also very peculiar that Estee Lauder still doesn’t have their polishes available when Nordstrom does. Macy’s now seems to have both collections available, albiet the mysterious Tempestous is again missing. I’m glad I stumbled upon this one by accident.

Both Tempestuous and Smashed have the same type of finish as the other Metal Mania polishes I showed on Monday. Tempestuous is a slate grey base with purple and teal flecks and Smashed is a dark purple base that almost leans to jelly with pink and blue flecks. The mysterious Tempestuous ended up being my favorite out of all the Metal Mania colors. Both of these are shown at three coats.

Bette Noire and Blue Blood are shimmers, but the shimmer particles are very fine so they aren’t immediately obvious. Both are super dark. I only bought two of these as I was afraid these would be the type of colors that would be black in a normally lighted room and only show their colors when sunlight hit them. This is not the case – their base color is apparent in any light. I had an incident of polish pull with Blue Blood (you can see the bald spot on the ring finger), so I’d recommend that you leave a minute or two between coats for these two. These two are shown at two coats.

After doing a bit more research, I found we can thank Tom Pecheux for these edgy colors. Tom Pecheux joined Estee Lauder late last year as their Creative Makeup Director. I loved these colors. Enough where I’ll probably go back and get the rest of the Beyond Black Collection. Go Tom!

Wow… Smashed is just gorgeous. Bete Noir reminds me of Nyx Girls Purple Noir, which is probably my favourite purple (blame your swatches for buying it). But honestly.. I wouldn’t spend that much for a bottle I’d probably wear once.

In Europe the release for these is September. Love Tempestuous!

I have your solution! I was told Tempestuous is a Nordstrom exclusive.

Love love love this collection, thank you for the swatches. It’s been a long time since I’ve wanted every single one of a collection but I’m a real fan of Tom Pecheux. FYI he’s been working for Estee Lauder as CD from 2009, and if you’re really interested in his amazing carreer check out this slideshow style.com made of his life (only 11 slides) For example did you know he made absolutely stunning make up for Lady Diana for Vanity Fair in 1997. http://www.style.com/beauty/beautifullives/070210_Tom_Pecheux/slideshow?loop=0&iphoto=7&play=false&cnt=12

Marionne, thanks for the link! I’ve never gravitated to Estee Lauder until recently and really do think Pecheux is the reason.
