Dior Summer Mix 2012

Boy this page looks bright and colorful!

When Dior originally came out with their wide brush, I was concerned. Once I tried it, I was relieved. However, recent collections have me rescinding my praises of this brush. I think the quality control has plummeted since these wide brushes were introduced. They no longer have perfectly rounded edges – alot have pointy edges which give you a jagged line at the cuticles. They no longer have a uniform thickness – bristles are concentrated in different areas of the brush. They no longer splay beautifully – this makes the sides of the nail difficult to cover. The Dior Summer Mix is stunning. But it was marred by the horrid application due solely to the brushes.

But let’s talk about color, because this collection has it! Dior calls this collection of colors “sorbets”, which is pretty much another word for “jelly“. That considered, these colors have extremely good opacity. Acapulco was three coats, but all the rest were two.

Acupulco is a highlighter yellow. Cosmo is a muted neon pink. Calypso is an red leaning orange. And Lagoon is a teal leaning blue which ended up being darker than I anticipated.

I’m not quite sure where/when these colors are coming out. I thought they were supposed to debut in June but my sitings have been limited. I ended up finding mine at the Dillards website a couple of weeks ago. As of now, only Acupulco is available. The same holds true for Bloomingdales. I’ve never seen them on the Nordstrom site (my go to site for polish). And even though I found them on the Dior site, they seem to be unavailable. Hopefully, they surface with a bit more visibility.

Hello, it’s funny because I posted on the same nail polishes yesterday. Here in France, they were available on July !

I really love these colors and the jelly texture.

Here are my swatches : http://lavieenface.com/2012/08/14/dior-vernis-gloss-summer-mix-lagoon-acapulco-calypso-cosmo/
    Sorry, it’s in French.

They are far from being as beautiful as yours :) !
They are quite a fail because I was in a hurry and I am not used to the brush !

    Thanks.
