I think that gold is one of Chanel’s favorite colors as they see to have figured out a couple dozen ways to re-invent this shade. Chanel Trophee is actually a shimmer even though the shimmer almost resembles a fine particle glitter because it’s so highly reflective. Shown is two coats.

As you can tell by the number, Rouge Enigme is one of the earlier Chanel colors. In hunting down Chanels, I really enjoy acquiring Chanel polishes that are number below 100. Rouge Enigme is a warm brick red that leans to brown and sports a modest gold shimmer. Shown is two coats.

Muse is one of those colors that a year ago, I wouldn’t have looked twice at. But lately, I’ve been drawn more and more to these light shades. In classic Chanel style, they’ve added subtle glitter to a very light pink to jazz up what would otherwise be a somewhat forgettable color. You need stain [...]

Chaud-Froid is probably one of Chanel’s more frosty colors. Combine that with the white shade, I was expecting disaster, but it actually wasn’t that bad. Although it was thin going on, it wasn’t chalky or extremely streaky like most whites and it didn’t leave blaring lines like most frosts. It did need three coats to [...]

Chanel Electric is a beautiful tomato red with heavy gold shimmer which deceptively gives it an almost orange tint. I’ve really been enjoying swatching these Chanel polishes for the Sunday posts as I tend to forget how beautifully simplistic these older Chanels are.

Ah, no hurricanes or power outages to deal with this Sunday! All is good! Volage reminds me so much of a yummy orange sherbet, I just want to lick my nails when I’m wearing it. I’m not quite sure when this baby came out, but I’ve not seen too many bottles up for sale anywhere. [...]

I was under two misconceptions about Miami Peach. First that it was a creme. And baby that was a that was a whopper of a misconception as Miami Peach has beautiful gold shimmer. Second that it was hard to find. Now that I’m not quite sure about. I know that it hasn’t been on the [...]

I’ve been hunting Orageux, otherwise known as Rain, for quite a while. It came out with a yellow polish called Petillant, or “Shine”, which I am still hunting for. This was definitely a case of the hunt being more exciting than the capture. Orageux was not pleasant going on. It ended up being much more [...]

Chanel Lollipop is very similar to Chanel Clarte, another clear red jelly. I’m really not sure I like this light type of jelly (some might call this finish a stain or water). At four coats, there just isn’t enough tint. Someone gave me a great tip of using these type of colors over a silver [...]
I find that alot of the older Chanel polishes have been eclipsed by the newer polishes with tons of shimmer, glitter and effects. But it doesn’t make them any less beautiful. English Rose is a simple coral-pink with shimmer, perfect for summer days spent by the pool. Was and still is gorgeous.
